Vinyl records to CD - Do it Yourself tips!

Photo Scanning,	Negative Scanning, Slide Scanning, LP CD, Video DVD

NOTE: To professionally transfer your own Vinyl records to CD could be very expensive and time consuming if you want to do it right.

Things to buy:

  • A modern computer to handle the file size generated by audio signal files.
  • Specialized software to do audio signal processing.
  • A Turntable with a high-end needle and the means to have it interface with your computer.
  • Good quality CD burner.
  • Photo Scanning, Negative Scanning, Slide Scanning, LP to CD, Video to DVD & Portable Devices

Things to learn:

  • Audio signal processing software.
The type that sound engineers use might
be somewhat complex but it would be
worth it. You may not find this type
of software on a small retail computer
store. Do a research before buying one.

Things to do:

  • Carefully clean the Vinyl record on both sides. Failure to do so may damage the needle and/or affect the quality of the recording.
  • Adjust the appropriate settings on the turntable and recording software before start. (Do the same for side 2).
  • Once you finish recording the two sides, open the audio signal files using the audio signal processing software and clean the entire file by finding and removing “noise” type of signals (Note: don’t try to do it automatically if you want to do it right.)
  • After you finish cleaning the audio signal, identify and split the audio signal file into the corresponding individual sound tracks.
  • And finally, you may want to digitally enhance the individual sound tracks before exporting and burning it into a CD.

To process a couple of Vinyl records will take you about 4 hours. Just the recording phase will take you more than 40 minutes each side and then add the signal cleaning and enhancement process after the recording phase. If after burning a few CDs you realized that the quality is not acceptable, then do the whole process all over again but trying different settings and configurations. Eventually you will get it right.

Alternatively, we can professionally and enthusiastically transfer those two Vinyl records with our refined procedures and calibrated resources for about $56.00 plus tax.
